Description of the Arkansas whetstone:

A professional whetstone with a very fine grain.

A whetstone is used to remove small burrs from wood chisels or other sharp tools after grinding on a grinding machine.

The whetstone is used as follows: Press the chisel firmly onto the whetstone with the ground surface facing down, and remove the burrs by making gentle circular movements. To keep the whetstone flat, always use the entire surface of the stone. Water is usually used as a lubricant.
